Asembia 2025: Innovation, Collaboration, and Compassion at the Heart of Specialty Pharmacy
with insights from Jennifer Noonan, VP of Clinical Strategy and Patient Engagement, Dave Griffiths, VP, Development – Held at the Wynn & Encore in Las Vegas, Asembia’s 2025 (AXS25) Specialty Pharmacy Summit brought together over 8,000 professionals from across the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries to explore the future of specialty pharmacy. For Accessia Health, AXS25 served as both a platform to lead and a space to learn. Our leaders’ attendance represented our ongoing mission into understanding new patient assistance perspectives and purpose through meaningful dialogue and collaboration.
“Asembia 2025 was a powerful reminder that innovation and empathy must go hand in hand to transform patient care,” said Dave Griffiths, VP of Development.
Jennifer Noonan, VP of Clinical Strategy and Patient Engagement, echoed this sentiment, adding, “Asembia isn’t just a conference—it’s a convergence of voices that shape the future of healthcare access. Each conversation I had reinforced why the work we do at Accessia Health matters so deeply to the individuals we serve.”
Expanding Horizons: AI, Analytics, and the Future of Care
Compared to previous years, AXS25 was marked by a clear acceleration in digital transformation. The integration of artificial intelligence, automation, and data analytics dominated conversations as attendees explored ways to streamline operations, enhance therapy adherence, and improve patient outcomes. From real-time engagement platforms to automated benefits investigations, technology was showcased not as a replacement for human touch, but as a tool to extend it.
These advances reflect a rapidly growing specialty pharmacy market, now expanding at a rate of 12.8% year-to-date, driven largely by emerging therapies in oncology, rare diseases, and gene and cell therapy.
Leading with Empathy: Accessia Health’s AXS25 Session
Accessia Health was proud to contribute to this year’s thought leadership by presenting our panel on reimagining patient assistance through a holistic lens. Our session, titled “Speaking Health and Human: Bridging the Gap to Quality Patient Care,” was led by President Tiara Green, Jennifer Noonan, and guest speaker, Omar A. Escontrías with the National Health Council. This discussion focused on how addressing not just financial barriers, but also social determinants of health and emotional needs, leads to better patient outcomes.
Our message was clear: Wraparound support services aren’t just nice to have — they’re essential for improving outcomes and ensuring patients can remain on therapy.
Core Themes and Takeaways
Throughout the week, several key themes emerged:
- Health Equity: Many sessions explored actionable strategies to close gaps in care, from tools introduced by major players like CVS to the implementation of multilingual resources and community-based outreach.
- Patient Engagement: There was a clear industry shift toward co-creation, with digital platforms enabling more personalized, real-time patient interactions. Asembia also announced the launch of the Outcomes platform, designed to facilitate direct patient engagement within pharmacy workflows.
- Collaborative Innovation: We engaged with partners across pharma and tech sectors who expressed interest in enhancing holistic care models together. The sentiment was unified: no single organization can solve the complexities of patient care alone.
- Supply Chain & Policy: Discussions also touched on policy uncertainty, tariff-driven supply chain challenges, and the need for proactive strategies to ensure continuity of care — especially in the specialty space where disruption can be life-altering.
Humanizing the Mission
A particularly moving moment came during a panel where a patient shared their years-long journey to access a life-saving therapy. Their story served as a powerful reminder of why we do this work — that behind every data point and policy decision is a human life. It’s a message that resonated across AXS25, including in our own exhibition booth, where we hosted an interactive JENGA game. This lighthearted yet meaningful activity symbolized the fragile balance between rising healthcare costs and the critical support programs that keep patients from falling through the cracks. Together, these moments underscored the importance of always centering humanity in the healthcare conversation.
Final Reflections
From a powerful keynote by Gary Sinise that reinforced the value of community and service, to data-driven discussions on access and affordability, our time at AXS25 has us looking forward to building on the connections we made and turning these insights into action for the patients and families we serve every day.
