Accessia Health Opens Financial Assistance Program For Individuals With Heart Failure
Midlothian, Va. (March 3, 2025) – Accessia Health, a national nonprofit 501(c)(3) patient assistance organization, is now offering financial assistance for individuals suffering from heart failure. This initiative aims to reduce the financial burden of medical care and improve access to essential treatments for patients facing economic hardship. Through the Heart Failure Patient Program, eligible individuals can use their funding for medication copays, health insurance premiums, travel costs, and other related medical expenses.
Heart failure affects approximately 6.2 million adults in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It is a chronic condition that can lead to serious health complications, including hospitalization and decreased quality of life. Many patients struggle to afford necessary medications, medical devices, and outpatient care, making financial assistance a crucial component in managing this condition effectively.
This condition also imposes a substantial financial burden. In addition to significantly higher healthcare costs compared to individuals without heart failure, people with heart failure also face additional financial strain due to out-of-pocket expenses, including medications and insurance premiums which average around $4,423 annually, according to the American Heart Association. Indirect costs such as lost productivity and caregiving further exacerbate the economic impact on patients and their families.
“We recognize the immense challenges faced by heart failure patients, both physically and financially,” said Jennifer Noonan, Vice President of Clinical Strategy and Patient Engagement of Accessia Health. “By offering this patient assistance program, we hope to ensure that individuals receive the critical care they need without the added stress of financial constraints.”
The cost of obtaining care is often the barrier people face in getting the treatment they need, and funding through Accessia Health will help improve access to overall care for those who would otherwise go without. Accessia Health’s patient assistance programs are designed to support those living with a rare or chronic health condition and alleviate some of the stress that may come with medical expenses.
Accessia Health’s financial assistance programs are available to eligible individuals who are living with a rare or chronic health condition. Program space is limited and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Patient Programs will only remain open as long as funding is available.
